Counseling & Training lawyers in NJ

The best defense is a strong offense. At the Levine Law Firm, our employment law attorneys’ first goal is to ensure our clients do not run afoul of employment laws and regulations. To do this, our attorneys provide on-going NJ advisory and counseling services to employers at all stages of the employment process. Employers should contact the attorneys at the Levine Law Firm before taking any employment action, including but not limited to:

  • Hiring employees
  • Using background checks and reference checks
  • Requiring an employee submits to a drug test or use a drug test result
  • Terminations
  • Lay-offs
  • Responding to employee internal complaints of harassment/discrimination
  • Adjusting an employees pay, and others.

The Attorneys at the Levine Law Firm are experienced advisors ensuring employers comply with all EEOC requirements, state and federal wage and hour laws, ADA compliance, FMLA, New Jersey Family Leave Act and other state and federal employment laws. Every employment decision can usually be tied to one of these employment laws/regulations. Before making an employment decision, speak to one of our attorneys to ensure you remain compliant with all applicable employment laws.

In addition to our advisory and counseling services, our attorneys provide on-site training to employers. Training topics include FMLA, New Jersey Family Leave Act, ADA compliance, ADEA compliance and most notably, sexual harassment and discrimination training. In judging whether an employer has been negligent in preventing sexual harassment under state law, New Jersey state courts consider whether the employer made training available to all employees. Gaines v. Bellino, 173 N.J. 301 (2002). The court further stated that an employer that provides sexual harassment training helps demonstrate an “unequivocal commitment from the top” to preventing sexual harassment. Employers who provide sexual harassment training have an affirmative defense against claims raised by employees. To schedule a training session, or obtain more information, please call our office.
